Let's Go On A Tour

You have just pulled into our parking lot and you can see that we are a long ranch-style house-like building.

A deck runs the length of the front of the building to add further exploration experiences for the children in their outdoor play. Our front playground offers Mount Fred, a hill which has enjoyed water sliding and  sledding. The front playground also offers a canopied sandbox, a shed full of equipment and various "loose parts" for the children to engage with.

House-like for a reason, a home like atmosphere awaits your child - delicious home-cooked meals made by our cook, child-friendly washrooms, classrooms that act as learning environments, cozy napping rooms, playrooms, places to chat with friends, and enjoy meals together.

When you first arrive at KIDS R KIDS, you discover that you cannot get in without ringing our intercom. KIDS R KIDS is protected by a security access system that enables us to program each access tag specifically to your child's program.

Our center was designed from its inception for kids and about kids. It was the first daycare designed and built from scratch in Nova Scotia for the sole purpose of early childhood care and education.

Our six classrooms can accommodate 106 children with our Tangible room designed to meet the needs of ages 3 mos - 18 months, our Mezzo room designed to function as a transitional preparatory toddler room for ages 18 months until placement in our Bounce or our Zest room which are designed for ages 18 months - 3 years, our Vivacity room and our Dynamic room are designed for ages 4 years and up. The equipment in each room is developmentally appropriate for the ages registered to each room.

Each classroom has a washroom off of it, with low sinks and toilets, and some of the washrooms have "potties" and we have changing counters handy. Children do not have to be toilet-trained to attend.

We have little lofts for the children's enjoyment and two smaller play areas (which we affectionately call whip-offs) on the side of the room to make our learning centers cozy and inviting. This also fosters better group socialization and focus on activities.

While purchasing the equipment for our center, DIVERSITY was a prime focus. All of the climbers, kitchen centers, block sets are different from each other. This diversity is carried through to our playgrounds as we have two playhouses, three types of trikes, differing species of trees, etc. This encourages decision-making, expression of feelings and most importantly - appreciation of differences.
