During the warm seasons of the year: late spring, summer and early fall, the children are outside twice a day, wearing light hats at all times. We strongly encourage the use of bucket hats as they protect the children from the sun very effectively. The children send the hats in from home and they are also labelled. They also have sunscreen applied before going out both times. We purchase large bottles of sunscreen that we are able to hang on the wall in pumps and each family is billed annually a nominal charge for sunscreen. We very much enjoy playing in the sprinklers and wading pools so we need use water shoes, have bathing suits and t-shirts to cover our shoulders. We also use Mount Fred to water slide on. Little ones need to have swimming diapers to wear for outdoor water play as regular diapers tend to react badly when submerged. We drink lots of fluids and have a ball on the playgrounds and decks. We are very fortunate to have an air-conditioned facility to enjoy during these warm months. We monitor the temperature carefully and if too hot with the humidex taken into consideration as well, then we do not go outside as extreme heat is dangerous.
